Why am I seeing question marks in Apple's iOS UI Library?

If you’ve recently installed or updated Apple’s iOS UI Library, you might notice some text layers with missing characters — denoted by a . These missing characters are related to the new SF Symbols feature.

To show the correct SF Symbols instead of missing characters, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Open the Font Book application on your Mac and completely uninstall all copies of Apple’s SF Pro font (don’t forget to empty the trash).
  2. Head to Apple’s Design Resources and download the latest version of the SF Pro font (you might also want to download the SF Symbols application while you’re there).
  3. Quit Sketch and restart your Mac.
  4. Open any document using Apple’s iOS UI library in Sketch and confirm there are no more missing character symbols.
