Can I exchange my existing Sketch license for Teams credit?

If you have a valid license key for the Mac app, you can exchange this for credit against the cost of an active Teams subscription.

Teams subscriptions include access to the Mac app and regular updates for every Contributor, so you don’t need to pay for a traditional license at the same time.

The license exchange process has a few steps and there are a few things you’ll need to know before you can get started:

  • You’ll need an active Teams subscription. You don’t need to have a valid license key to start a teams subscription, simply sign up then create a team to start a free, 30-day trial if you haven’t already.
  • You’ll need to be the owner or admin of your team to exchange a license. If you have a license and aren’t the owner or admin of your team, you’ll need to speak to them and send them any confirmation emails you receive when they start the process.
  • You’ll need to be the owner of any license keys you’re exchanging, or get permission from the owner. As part of the process, we’ll send a confirmation to the email address asssociated with the license you’re exchanging. If you’re not the license owner, you’ll need to ask the license owner to forward that email to you.
  • Finally, once you redeem a license, we’ll deactivate it. If you or anyone else is using that license key to register Sketch, you’ll need to make sure they’re a Contributor on your Team and they’ll need to register Sketch with the account details they use for your Team instead.

If you have everything you need to start a license exchange, take a look at our step-by-step instructions to get started.

When you exchange a license key, you will receive $9 of credit per seat on each license, multiplied by the number of months left on your license. Don’t worry, we’ll do the math for you and let you know how much credit you’ll receive before the process is over.
